2022 September Kids Konnect X NHB
My Tale to Tell is a two-day multi-sensorial heritage programme organised by HeritageCares, an accessibility initiative by National Heritage Board (NHB). Twelve students from iC2 PrepHouse went through a series of activities using different senses to develop their interpretation of “What is Singapore Heritage?”.
Day 1: Visit to the National Museum of Singapore
We had eight volunteers to facilitate the visits to three exhibitions in the National Museum of Singapore – Growing Up Gallery, Story of the Forest, and Off/On: Everyday Technology that Changed our Lives, 1970s-200s. They also had a short tour around Fort Canning Park to smell different spices and herbs used in cooking. For teatime, our students were served local kueh, which they absolutely enjoyed!
Day 2: Traditional Games of Singapore
Our students played traditional games with each other using toys like marbles, kuti kuti, sepak takraw, and paper balls. These games were modified to create accessibility and enhance their playing experience. We wrapped the two-day programme with the sharing of student’s reflections on what heritage means to them.
