2021 Giving back to society to help the disadvantaged

We were pleased to receive a cheque from Mdm Chen for $50,000. When we enquired, she mentioned she read about iC2 PrepHouse in the Chinese newspaper. Our Executive Director, Ms Jamuna Rani, visited her to present the LKY endorsed limited edition Villeroy & Boch plate. iC2 PrepHouse would like to thank Mdm Chen for the $50,000 donation that would help subsidise 25 students’ visual rehabilitation programmes for one year. Thank you, Mdm Chen.

2021 Zoom Sessions_Fundamentals of Exercise

While waiting for a new term with Coach Sarav, our athletes and their parents met with Vision Teacher Lay Hong over Zoom every Saturday for five Saturdays (4, 11, 18, 25 Sept & 2 Oct) to learn about the fundamentals of exercise.

Teacher Lay Hong showed the parents how to help their child locate their neutral spine position, activate their core muscles, and stabilise their shoulders, to reduce injury while exercising. In the second week, simple resistance exercises were taught using the stretch cord. In our final session, we looked at performing a proper hip hinge for safe lower body activities and stretching critical muscles in the body.

Now, we are eager to return to Coach Sarav’s programme, knowing how we can protect ourselves and minimise injuries.

2021 Tactile Workshop

A tactile training workshop was held on 4 Sept 21 for five volunteers. The training gave the volunteers pointers on how to create tactile resources. At the end of the workshop, the volunteers made busy boards and concept books for our students. Tactile making workshops are essential for us at iC2 PrepHouse Limited as it helps create the resources to aid our students in their learning. We appreciate our volunteers who took the time to help us make our resources.

2021 PSG (Parents Support Group) – Pre-schoolers

As we appreciate the need to network with our parents, four families joined Associate Vision Teacher Natasha in the Parents Konnect for Pre-schoolers on 28 Aug 21. The topic was on eating habits and playing skills. Parents were forthcoming in sharing their difficulties in their child’s eating habits and what they’ve tried to do to overcome them. They also shared types of toys and websites resources. The parents who have previously attended our PSG made it cosy and easy for our newer families to share. We want to invite more parents to join our community to help grow our network and gain further information on visual impairment.
