2019 Inclusive Sports Festival

iC2 PrepHouse was invited to participate in the annual Inclusive Sports Festival (ISF), part of the Get Active! Singapore’s festivities, a nationwide effort to celebrate national day through sport. It was held at Our Tampines Hub for the third year by Sport Singapore’s ActiveSG.

The ISF aims to be a gathering of passionate disability, social service and sports organisations to bring to the Singapore community the largest para and adaptive sports tryout event. It also serves as a platform to educate the disability community about the long term health and social benefits of sports participation.

There were 37 different activities across the venue, and we brought a student along to participate in the Amaze Aquatic Parent-Child Workshop, the accompanying Drowning Prevention and Aquatic Safety talk, as well as learning about Fundamental Movement Skills. It was an enjoyable and fitness-filled day!

2019 Gardens By The Bay

In celebration of Youth Day, iC2 PrepHouse organised an outing to the Gardens by the Bay for our clients and their siblings. Based on their age, the participants are divided into two groups and a different set of activities was conducted for each group.

Kids Konnect (for participants aged 6 and below)
Our young clients had a fun day at Gardens by the Bay with their parents and our staff. The participants had a fun outdoor play session at the Far East Organization Children’s Garden. The participants also had the chance to visit the flower dome and the cloud forest.

We would like to express our gratitude to Macquarie Group Services (Singapore) Pte. Limited as this event is made possible with their generous donation to us last year.

Teens Konnect (for participants aged 7 and above)
Other than visiting the flower dome and cloud forest, the participants participated in an Amazing Race-like activity. We would like to thank the 6 volunteers from Australian and New Zealand Association of Singapore (ANZA) and 5 volunteers from Credit Suisse (Singapore) Ltd for the support rendered.

This event was made possible with funding from the SHARE as One grant which enables us to organise activities that provide volunteering opportunities for corporate volunteers.

2019 Speech And Drama Workshop

With the help of Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT), iC2 PrepHouse organized a speech and drama workshop for our clients and their siblings. During the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to participate in warm up games, practice vocal projection, understand stage directions and develop body awareness and stage presence. We thank SRT for conducting the fun-filled and enriching workshop for the participants. We would also like to express our gratitude to Macquarie Group Services (Singapore) Pte. Limited as this event is made possible with their generous donation to us last year.

2019 Learning Journey for Fuhua Secondary School

A awareness talk was conducted for the Sports Leaders of Fuhua Secondary School on 21 May 2019, which is a lead-up to their VIA (Values in Action) programme in June. Information about iC2 Prephouse, visual impairments, interactions with a person with visual impairments and useful strategies for their upcoming VIA activities was shared with the students. The Sports Leaders also carried out their VIA activities with some feedback given by iC2 teachers.

2019 Tactile Book Making

A tactile book making session was conducted for a group of tertiary students at our centre. The objective of the session is to equip them with knowledge on vision impairment and the techniques of tactile book production. The students will be using the knowledge gained to help out in the production of tactile books in Laos as part of their overseas project.

2019 Gretel and Hansel Performance

Our clients and their family members were invited to an entertaining play “Gretel and Hansel” by The Little Company, a division of SRT (Singapore Repertory Theatre). In line with SRT’s aim to provide excellent experience and service for all patrons who may require additional support to enjoy their events, a touch tour is provided for our clients. During the show, the performance is verbally described and transmitted to the audience members through their own mobile phone device with earphones. We would like to thank SRT for making this theatre experience possible for our clients and their family members.
