Existing and potential volunteers were invited to attend a brief workshop introducing iC2 PrepHouse Limited, the work we do and the assistive technology we employ to help our students. This Volunteer Recruitment exercise resulted in more than 10 sign-ups. We had 3 existing volunteers attending and hence a total of 14 participants attended the workshop.

The same group of volunteers from above were invited for an additional workshop on resource production for visually-impaired children and youths. However, not all were able to attend but some who did also brought their friends and family members. Additional pointers such as explaining the difference between 2D representations of car (2 wheels) vs the actual car (4 wheels) were given and participants were given the opportunity to practice producing tactile resources.

iC2 Prephouse was invited to set up a booth at Taman Jurong on Healthy Lifestyle Day event. This gave iC2 an opportunity to raise awareness among residents in the community about our services for children and youth with visual impairment.

Teachers from NIE attended a lecture with Dr Wong Meng Ee and toured the facilities of iC2 Prephouse. The objective was to inform teachers about the programmes and facilities available to children with visual impairment.

The Lunar New Year Gathering started with an inspiring and interactive session with Dr Yeo Sze Ling who is visually impaired. She shared her experiences , thoughts and challenges with our parents and students. Despite many challenges, Dr Yeo graduated with three degrees, including a PhD in Math. She is a successful professional and is a Research Scientist.

After the session, the Management and Staff with parents and students gathered together to ‘Lo Hei’ for happy and prosperous year of the horse.

Jurong Point organized a Horseshoe Charity Auction as part of its 18th Anniversary Celebration and fund raising promotion. Horseshoe is known to be a lucky charm that protects and attracts good fortune in a home or office. Bidding started on 8th November 2013 and ended on 29th December 2013.

Staff of iC2 participated by designing a horseshoe photo frame (Design No. H06) for the charity auction.

We are delighted that our horseshoe photo frame was successfully bid by a kind donor.

iC2 PrepHouse official launch was graced by our Guest-Of-Honour Mdm Halimah Yacob (Speaker of The Singapore Parliament).

There were activities organized by volunteers from Standard Chartered Bank that help to raise awareness about the issue on visual impairment and to spread the work that iC2 Prephouse does. Through these activities, some of the guests had fun and the chance to experience some activities that simulated challenges that are faced by the visually impaired.
