2023 Parent Support Group Dialogue Session
The recent Parent Support Group dialogue session was an enriching and heartwarming event that brought together parents from our community to share their experiences, exchange valuable insights, and strengthen their support networks. This session was made even more special with the active participation of 3 dedicated volunteers from Nanyang Technological University, who assisted in engaging and entertaining the children, allowing parents to focus on the discussion.
The heart of the event was the discussion session. Parents were divided into smaller groups, each led by a Vision Teacher. Topics ranged from personal wellness, and resources for education and learning to active living as a family. Parents shared their personal stories, offered practical advice, and listened empathetically to each other’s concerns.
One of the highlights of this session was the active involvement of university volunteers. Our Teacher Assistants and the volunteers carried out a variety of engaging activities and games for the children in a separate area, ensuring they were safe and entertained throughout the morning. This allowed parents to participate in the discussions without worrying about their children’s well-being.
The Parent Support Group dialogue session was a success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of parents, the insights shared, and the invaluable assistance of university volunteers. This event reinforced the idea that parents of children who are visually impaired are not alone in the parenting journey and that we are building up a support system by establishing a Parent Support Group Main Committee team.
As we continue to share, learn, and empower each other, we look forward to future sessions that will further strengthen the support network between parents. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. We are excited about what the future holds for our Parent Support Group!
2023 Soundball at MOE (Evans) Active SG
On 9 Sept 2023, 3 of iC2’s students participated in a taster Soundball event at MOE (Evans) Active SG tennis court. The event lasted for 1.5 hours and the students got to learn how to balance a modified tennis ball (soundball) on their racquets, control their strength when hitting the tennis ball, hit the tennis ball with a forehand swing, and avoid incoming tennis balls. Overall, the children enjoyed themselves and some parents indicated interest for their child to continue the soundball sessions. iC2 looks forward to more regular collaborations with Soundball Singapore.

2023 June Kids Konnect X SAM Touch Collection Workshop
The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) welcomed iC2 PrepHouse students, teachers, and family members to their new venue at Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Ten participants had the opportunity to experience contemporary art through SAM’s Touch Collection Workshop. They were introduced to elements of art through a texture board and embossed materials. They also interacted with table-top sized 3D sculpture artwork by local artist, Tang Ling Nah, whose works were inspired by urban spaces in Singapore. At the end of the workshop, participants reflected on their environment and spaces that made them feel safe and used modelling clay to create an object within their favourite space to share with the group.
Over $10,000 raised across Fundraising Dinner at Blue Smoke
iC2 PrepHouse just wrapped up the first dinner of our inaugural Fundraising Dinner Série 2023.
Unlike our large-scale biennial gala dinners, this Fundraising Dinner Série involves the hosting of four smaller, intimate dinners over the course of 2023. We embarked on this project in March and hoped to engage with donors and share with them our mission to help families cope with a difficult disability. Ultimately, we aim to provide an opportunity where donors and supporters of iC2 PrepHouse will be able to interact with like-minded folks and learn more about the charity they are supporting, in the hopes that they will continue to do so in the future.
As such, we collaborated with the local award-winning restaurant, Blue Smoke, to host our first dinner on 24 May 2023. Our kind donors and board members who attended had a wonderful time over great food and meaningful conversation.
All in all, we would like to thank our kind donors and the Team at Blue Smoke for making the night such a memorable one.
